Blessing of the Bikes

The 3rd Annual Blessing of the Bikes hosted by Solomons United Methodist Church took place today.  Pastor Meredith Wilkins-Arnold and Associate Lay Leader Lauren Grzymalski welcomed the crowd and were joined by Preacher Bacon of Rushing Wind Ministries.

The friends and families of those gathered joined in watching the Parade of Colors by a boy scout and and girl scout.  All paid their respects as the National Anthem was sung by Lauren.  Following the short message and prayer each motorcyclist was prayed for individual next to their machines. The personal attention was appreciated by all.

To top it off, there was pulled pork and pulled beef with slaw served in the fellowship hall of Solomons UMC.

I was drawn to the event for the moving artwork called motorcycles, but was impressed by the message of Preacher Bacon and the camaraderie of those gathered.  Bacon spoke of the biker culture and how it is quickly growing, including a wide variety of subcultures therein.  He went on to quickly explain that true bikers live by a code and chief among them is to never leave a buddy stranded.  That is an attitude that all can and should embrace.

Let's get started with some of the machines. I don't know one type of Harley from another, but I certainly admire the styles and the chrome!

This is the only one I'm in .. have to look close...

Not my best photo, but it shows friendship at its finest.

"We're all about that Grace, 'bout that Grace", and it shows right here.

I think this Can-Am was the only non-Harley this year

I didn't hear any complaints about the food! Delish!

I really liked this one.
I touched on the camaraderie and want to introduce you to two of the fine folks I ended up chatting with.

Barbara asked if I might take a few photos of her and her  pups, so here are a few.  I think I could do better if the dogs weren't getting hot.

can you hear them saying "Grass! Grass! let me on the Grass!"

I also met William (Bill) Quinn.  There is one thing you need to know about Bill, he has a passion for life and sharing his insights on a wide variety of topics.  He has a YouTube channel William Quinn with lots of instructional videos and underwater video of Blue Crabs.  Bill is often on the Solomons Riverwalk, just say "Hi" and you'll have a great conversation.

Bill also does PC repair.  I haven't used his services, but if you have a need  Bill's Billboard ( pun intended ) is below.

I'll leave you with a little footwear.  Again, my eye wanders and this time it was the color that first grabbed my attention.

Safety this time!

Well this ends my head to toe coverage.  Sorry folks I couldn't resist.

I hope you join this event next year; you'll have a great time.

Till next time,

Blessings,
Brian
