Today I had a few minutes before the 5:00 PM service at Solomons UMC. I stood at the railing of the river walk and just observed, watched and looked. In other words really wasn't doing much at all. I noticed the "bugs" that creep along the water covered rocks that protect the land from the tides and waves. I watched the gulls, noticed the kayaker and saw some sail-boards in the distance. I glanced at people walking along, and even got in a small conversation about cameras with a group of ladies. I had wanted to get a photo of them, but alas... "we're eating ice cream.... so no!" all said with a smile of course.
Have you seen how the gulls will swoop down and "bump" another off the top of a piling? Then that one usually will 'bump' off another. This time, when I tried to catch it on my camera I found the one that was on top defended his territory.
Next I saw a nice trike and snapped a few frames to get this one:

In case you're wondering what restaurant is behind the trike, the next shot should answer your question. Though I haven't eaten there yet, I'm told it's quite good.

The best part of the day though, was having a conversation with a guy sitting in the shade. I was walking by and noticed there are very few spots to find shade on the walk, and he had a great one. I told him "looks like you've got the best spot to sit" and he replied with a slight smile and said "I do." It was enough of an opening, that I asked if he minded if I had a seat with him. We talked for a bit about work and retirement. About planning for retirement, the difficulties with Medicaid and costs of prescription medicine. I told him about my blog and gave him a 'business card' that I now carry. When I asked if I could take a photo of him, he asked "are you going to put it on your blog." "Only if you let me." I found he comes out a couple times a month from his place not too far away. Today's reason.. "the football game was so boring I thought I'd come down here." He comes for the same reasons as most. It's a nice place to watch, and I finished his sentence.. "cars, people, bikes and dogs!" We both smiled. He seems like a great guy, and mentioned he'd like a girlfriend. I wish you well in that endeavor friend, I wish you well.I saw a couple more cars worth a mention here:
Blessings,
Brian

Love the conversation with the gentleman. The photo really captures what I imagine his energy embodied. Thanks for sharing some of the last of the Solomons summer sun with us here. Looking forward to more posts!
