If you take 30 minutes to walk the river walk, or just stand and look around or maybe even just sit in the shade at Solomons you will simply relax. At least that's been my experience.
Today I had a few minutes before the 5:00 PM service at Solomons UMC. I stood at the railing of the river walk and just observed, watched and looked. In other words really wasn't doing much at all. I noticed the "bugs" that creep along the water covered rocks that protect the land from the tides and waves. I watched the gulls, noticed the kayaker and saw some sail-boards in the distance. I glanced at people walking along, and even got in a small conversation about cameras with a group of ladies. I had wanted to get a photo of them, but alas... "we're eating ice cream.... so no!" all said with a smile of course.

Have you seen how the gulls will swoop down and "bump" another off the top of a piling? Then that one usually will 'bump' off another. This time, when I tried to catch it on my camera I found the one that was on top defended his territory.
Next I saw a nice trike and snapped a few frames to get this one:

In case you're wondering what restaurant is behind the trike, the next shot should answer your question. Though I haven't eaten there yet, I'm told it's quite good.

The best part of the day though, was having a conversation with a guy sitting in the shade. I was walking by and noticed there are very few spots to find shade on the walk, and he had a great one. I told him "looks like you've got the best spot to sit" and he replied with a slight smile and said "I do." It was enough of an opening, that I asked if he minded if I had a seat with him. We talked for a bit about work and retirement. About planning for retirement, the difficulties with Medicaid and costs of prescription medicine. I told him about my blog and gave him a 'business card' that I now carry. When I asked if I could take a photo of him, he asked "are you going to put it on your blog." "Only if you let me." I found he comes out a couple times a month from his place not too far away. Today's reason.. "the football game was so boring I thought I'd come down here." He comes for the same reasons as most. It's a nice place to watch, and I finished his sentence.. "cars, people, bikes and dogs!" We both smiled. He seems like a great guy, and mentioned he'd like a girlfriend. I wish you well in that endeavor friend, I wish you well.
I saw a couple more cars worth a mention here:
Blessings,
Brian
Love the conversation with the gentleman. The photo really captures what I imagine his energy embodied. Thanks for sharing some of the last of the Solomons summer sun with us here. Looking forward to more posts!
